Main / Media / News / Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation Holds Discussion Session with Azerbaijani Minister of Digital Development and Transport during the Joint Egyptian-Azerbaijani Committee for Economic Cooperation

24 November 2025

H.E. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, held a discussion session with H.E. Mr. Rashad Nabiyev, Minister of Digital Development and Transport of the Republic of Azerbaijan, during the sixth session of the Joint Egyptian-Azerbaijani Committee for Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation. The session was hosted by Cairo today, Monday, and co-chaired by the Egyptian Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, and the Azerbaijani Minister of Digital Development and Transport.

The Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation welcomed the Azerbaijani Minister of Transport and Digital Development and the accompanying delegation, emphasizing the close relations between the two countries and the keenness to elevate them to broader horizons by discussing various areas of joint cooperation within the committee's work.

Dr. Al-Mashat highlighted the depth of the historical relations between Egypt and Azerbaijan, noting the continuous strengthening of political, economic, and cultural cooperation since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1992, the growth of dialogue at all levels, and the expansion of cooperation in energy, trade, education, and culture, which has formed a solid foundation for the growing strategic partnership between the two countries.

Dr. Rania Al-Mashat reaffirmed that Egyptian-Azerbaijani relations are witnessing continuous development, reflecting the leaderships' keenness to enhance cooperation towards wider horizons, especially in light of the increasing convergence of visions and the rising pace of mutual official visits.

The Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation referred to the successful visit of H.E. Mr. Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, to Egypt in June 2024, which resulted in the signing of seven cooperation documents across various fields, including economy, digital transformation, electricity, oil and gas, youth and sports, and investment promotion, in addition to new agreements to support transport, the pharmaceutical industry, artificial intelligence, and renewable energy, as well as the transfer of Egyptian expertise in green hydrogen, ammonia, and the operation and maintenance of power plants.

Minister Al-Mashat also stressed Egypt's keenness to expand partnership opportunities between the public and private sectors, especially in areas that support sustainable growth, including green transition, transport, health, education, and other fields, while focusing on creating an environment where international partners and the private sector can contribute to achieving Egypt's development vision, while simultaneously benefiting from the growing market and the attractive investment climate.
