Main / Media / News / The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development organizes the 1st training workshop for youngsters of the Youth for Development initiative at Cairo University.

17 March 2023

The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development organized the first training workshop for young people participating in student competitions under the Youth for Development initiative for the academic year 2022/2023 at Cairo University, with the participation of 15 public, private, and private universities and participants in the initiative for the current year.

Dr. Mohamed Alaa, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Office, also participated in the workshop.

Dr. Jamil Helmy, Assistant Minister of Planning and Economic Development for Follow-up Affairs of the Sustainable Development Plan, also participated in the workshop, where he talked about the national projects that are being implemented under the umbrella of the Decent Life Initiative in the targeted villages and centers, as well as a comprehensive analysis of the greening of the state’s investment plan and the criteria for the success of development projects.

Dr. Mona Essam, Assistant Minister for Sustainable Development, also participated in a session that included the dimensions and pillars of the sustainable development strategy: Egypt's Vision 2030, and criteria for the success of achieving the development goals.

During the workshop, Dr. Muhammad Alaa praised the university coordinators' efforts and students' participation in student competitions on their various tracks. For example, the development projects track or the policy papers track.

Alaa stressed the importance of public and private training programs in enabling youth to prepare policy papers and development projects that can be implemented on the ground.

Alaa pointed out that this year's initiative included students from several African countries. This comes within the framework of African affiliation, which the Egyptian state confirms by strengthening cooperation and working with young people from different countries on the continent.

The training included introducing young people to the strategies, programs, and policies that the Egyptian state is working on. These include Egypt's Vision 2030, the Decent Life Initiative, and the National Strategy for Human Rights.
