Main / Media / News / The Minister of Planning and Economic Development participates in the 2nd edition of the Egyptian Women's Summit

12 March 2023

The Minister of Planning and Economic Development, H.E. Dr. Hala El-Said attended the second edition of the Egyptian Women’s Summit 2023 titled “Empowering Women, Egypt’s Strength, and Future” under the patronage of the ‘Top 50 Most Influential Women Forum'.

During her speech, Dr. Hala El-Said pointed out that the 'Top 50 Most Influential Women Forum' became a yearly specialized platform incorporating female experiences in different fields around the republic aiming to increase women’s participation in integrated development and decision-making and solidifying their role in writing the economic and social future of the Egyptian state.

She also dubbed the annual gathering one of the most significant events to honor pioneering women working in the government, private, and civil society sectors in Egypt. She also explained that this gathering represents a crucial occasion to express appreciation for the active participation of Egyptian women for almost three years, in the country's efforts to confront the challenge imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Egyptian women gain unprecedented support from political leaders, allowing them to meet the aspirations and ambitions of their position in society, and stimulating the unlimited potential they possess, according to El-Said

“Women’s issues and efforts to empower them politically, economically, and socially represent a bright meeting point in all pillars of the state’s vision and development programs, which give priority to gender considerations, starting from development planning, and extending contribution to production, and employment opportunities leading to leadership positions and decision-making positions," she explained.

El-Said further stresses the fact that the women's pillar of Egypt's Vision 2030 intersects almost all of the pillars of the vision.

El-Said asserted that the Women's Empowerment Strategy 2030, developed in cooperation with the National Council for Women, sits at the heart of most of the vision's objectives.

Also, she explained that the presence of women in decision-making centers is based on competence that is refined and developed through training, pointing to the training programs implemented by the ministry to empower women inside and outside Egypt in partnership with the National Training Academy and the Ministry of Immigration.

El-Said explained that the state has a comprehensive database regarding women in the private sector.

Moreover, she noted that the ministry is cooperating with the National Council for Women and the American University in Cairo (AUC) in the field of women’s presence on the boards of directors of companies and public and business bodies, aiming to increase the proportion of women’s presence in decision-making centers.

She also referred to the national project for the development of the Egyptian family and its role in strengthening efforts to improve the status of women and improve the quality of life of the Egyptian family and improve the characteristics of the population as well as adjust population growth rates.
