Planning Minister reviews the most important initiatives of the health sector in the 21/2022 plan before the Senate
EGP 47.5 billion are investments directed to Ministry of Health projects during 20/21/2022, an increase of 205% compared to 20/2021: says Hala El-Said

Hala El-Said, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, discussed today the main features of the 2022/2022 plan of the medium-term sustainable development plan (18 / 2019-21 / 2022) before the Senate Financial, Economic, and Investment Affairs Committee.



During its discussion; Dr. Hala El-Said reviewed the most important initiatives and programs of the health sector in the plan for the next fiscal year, pointing to the growth of investments directed to the projects of the Ministry of Health to reach EGP 47.5 billion, an increase of 205% compared to 20/2021, including projects of a decent life.


El-Said explained that the most important of these initiatives is to provide the necessary funds to enter the service hospitals and to accelerate the implementation rates of the health facilities that are being established and developed to quickly enter the service and begin to benefit citizens, whose credits amount to EGP 1.56 billion, as it is intended to complete 23 hospitals, the rate of completion of which is currently 77%. Likewise, the initiative of the National Project for Self-Sufficiency from Plasma Derivatives, with allocations amounting to EGP 650 million, aims to establish 20 plasma collection centers and a central strategic store.

El-Said continued talking about health sector initiatives within the 2021/2022 plan, which includes developing critical and urgent care departments in hospitals and expanding the availability of intensive care beds, with funds amounting to EGP 598 million to provide 2861 intensive care beds / 420 nurseries / 421 childcare beds.

This is in addition to implementing the objectives of the “Women's Health” initiative to provide the best service for breast cancer patients by raising the efficiency of medical personnel and developing the infrastructure to ensure the quality of treatment, at a total cost of EGP 600 million (started in July 2019) and with credits reaching EGP 105 million during 21/2022 to cover 30 million women.


El-Said pointed out that the health sector initiatives include strengthening the capacity of health facilities to provide medical services outstandingly in light of confronting the Coronavirus with credits of EGP 983 million, of which EGP 450 million are for the development of 23 Chest hospitals, EGP 400 million for the development of 42 fevers hospitals, EGP 43 million for the development of quarantine outlets, and EGP 120 One million to develop and raise the efficiency of central and provincial laboratories.

 The initiatives also include increasing coverage rates in university hospitals at the governorate level, with EGP 1 billion to complete the implementation of 7 new university hospitals, as well as an initiative to automate university hospitals with EGP 400 million to automate 115 university hospitals and to create an electronic health record for all visitors.




Regarding the Egyptian family development plan, El-Said explained that it aims to improve the population characteristics and control population growth with funds amounting to EGP 2.9 billion to raise the efficiency of 125 Takamul hospitals, operate 200 sewing workshops attached to Al-Takamul hospitals, provide and make available family planning methods, and operate 20 family development centers, in addition, to finance 350,000 micro-projects, automating family planning services and linking databases.
