Dr. Hala El-Said , Minister of Planning and Economic Development, discussed today the basic features of the 2022/21 plan of the medium-term sustainable development plan (2019/18 - 2022/21) at the Senate Financial, Economic and Investment Affairs Committee.El-Said  explained that the state has made a great effort in developing the system for developing the investment plan, follow-up programs, national and sectoral targets, and paying attention to directing investments to sectors that create decent job opportunities and add value to the national economy.El-Said  added that the plan aims to maximize the efficiency of public spending, and is based on the directives and initiatives of the political leadership, the sustainable development plan Egypt Vision 2030, in addition to the constitutional entitlements, international and regional economic developments, environmental sustainability standards, the guide to the gender-responsive plan, evidence of inclusive growth, and potential impacts. El-Said  added that the general directions of the sustainable development plan for 2022/21 included the full mobilization of all resources to effectively address the Coronavirus pandemic, the continuation of precautionary and preventive measures until the pandemic is over, and the transition to the implementation of the second phase of the economic and social reform program, which is concerned with structural reforms.The general directions also include highlighting presidential initiatives to improve the health and quality of life of Egyptian citizens, improve the living conditions of the Egyptian family, and the strategic orientation towards the development of Egyptian villages within the framework of the Decent Life Initiative.El-Said  continued talking about the directions of the plan, which also included intensifying national project investments in the field of infrastructure and social development, assigning absolute priority to high-productivity sectors driving accelerated growth, mainly the agriculture/manufacturing/telecommunications and information technology sectors, giving priority to the localization of allocations and directing financial allocations. Low-income intensified investment orientation for green projects as part of environmental improvement and sustainable development efforts.This is in addition to focusing on deepening the national industry, affirming its role in global value chains, adopting a strategy of exporting various economic activities, as well as enhancing the participation of the private sector in development efforts.On the new in the 2022/21 plan, El-Said  indicated that the plan includes the launch of the national program for priority structural reforms for the Egyptian economy, the comprehensive implementation of the Egyptian Rural Development Program (the second phase of the Decent Life Initiative), and the orientation towards a green economy: environmental sustainability standards, taking into account issues. Gender: gender-responsive planning, with the implementation of the Egyptian Family Development Plan
